Snow City Arts @ RUSH University Children’s Hospital

Young people and children who are hospitalized at RUSH University Children’s Hospital can explore their inner artists through Snow City Arts’ workshops. Our creative teaching artists work in many disciplines, including creative writing, media arts, music, theatre, and visual arts, and tailor their workshops to each student’s needs and artistic journey.

RUSH University Children’s Hospital is our founding hospital partner, and has been home to our administrative office for 25 years. Throughout that time, we’ve collaborated with their team to create programming that continues to meet their unique needs.  All our workshops are designed to align with the best practices and standards in arts education, and students who participate may be eligible for school credit. There is no cost for participating in our workshops.

Snow City Arts Teaching Artists @ RUSH University Children’s Hospital

Every week from Monday through Thursday, young people in the hospital at RUSH will have the opportunity to create art with these Snow City Arts teaching artists:

Monica Acosta, Visual Arts

I’m Monica, a visual artist who teaches painting, illustration, sculpting, and photography. Together, we’ll venture into creative activities where we can be spontaneous while we connect with the world around us. Sounds like fun, doesn’t it?

Molly Blumberg, Visual Arts

Hi there, I’m Molly. I am a sculptor, papermaker and all-around maker of things. I’m invested in process-based exploration, playing with materiality, and hands-on experimentation. I believe the arts are a conduit for creative problem-solving and for asking exciting questions about the world around us.

Kevin Smith, Music

Hi, I’m Kevin, a musician. No matter what your experience level is with music, I can help you learn your favorite song, discover how to play a variety of instruments, or create and record your own original piece of music.
