Snow City Arts @ Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago

Young people and children who are hospitalized at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago can explore their inner artists through Snow City Arts’ workshops. Our creative teaching artists work in many disciplines, including creative writing, media arts, music, theatre, and visual arts, and tailor their workshops to each student’s needs and artistic journey.

We’ve collaborated with the team at Lurie Children’s for nearly 20 years, creating a program that meets their unique needs. All our workshops are designed to align with the best practices and standards in arts education, and students who participate may be eligible for school credit. There is no cost for participating in our workshops.

Snow City Arts Teaching Artists @ Lurie Children’s Hospital

Every week from Monday through Thursday, young people in the hospital at Lurie Children’s will have the opportunity to create art with these Snow City Arts teaching artists:

Gabe Andres, Visual Arts / Media Arts / Music

Hello there, my name is Gabe. I’m an artist here to make awesome stuff with you. I make cartoons, comics, animations, movies, stories, songs, beats and even 3D modeling! Do any of those sound fun to you? Come join me and let’s make art!

Molly Blumberg, Visual Arts

Hi there, I’m Molly. I am a sculptor, papermaker and all-around maker of things. I’m invested in process-based exploration, playing with materiality, and hands-on experimentation. I believe the arts are a conduit for creative problem-solving and for asking exciting questions about the world around us.

Angelica Davila, Poetry / Literary Arts

Hi, I’m Angelica! I love to try new things and experiment with materials. My specialty is fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, and I’ve recently begun sketch writing. I’ll help make writing and poetry accessible and fun for you.

Derra McWilliams, Visual Arts

Hi, I’m Derra. I’m a fiber and oil artist mostly interested in portrait work and the expressive nature of color. We can make anything from a hat to a self portrait. To me, making things with our hands gets us closer to ourselves, so no matter your experience level we can make something special together!
