On October 3, 2025, Snow City Arts welcomed hundreds of guests from Chicago’s philanthropic, medical, and creative communities to Gallery Night 2025: Blue Flower Duet at Venue West.

This year’s theme, Blue Flower Duet, celebrated the relationship between imagination and healing. Inspired by the blue flower’s symbolism of creativity, hope, and the search for meaning, the exhibition featured artwork created by young people navigating life in the hospital. Each piece represented expression while joining others to form a collective story of growth and connection.

Among the featured works were “Untitled” by Ava, age  and “Tulip” by Ella age, both highlighted by Snow City Arts on social media before the event. Ava’s piece drew attention for its expressive use of color and texture, capturing the feeling of curiosity and wonder that defines much of Snow City Arts’ programming. Together, these works reflected the harmony between introspection and collaboration that the title Blue Flower Duet represents.

Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed live music performed by the Snow City Arts Band, which included both student-composed pieces and original works by teaching artists. The program also featured heartfelt remarks from Snow City Arts students who spoke about how creating art during treatment helped them rediscover confidence and joy. Executive Director Carrie Spitler and members of the Snow City Arts Board recognized this year’s Kate Neisser Award recipient, Cathy Skala, for her dedication to advancing arts education in healthcare environments.

Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, donors, ticket holders, and art buyers, Gallery Night 2025 raised more than $178,000 to sustain Snow City Arts programs across four Chicago area hospitals. These funds ensure that children and teens continue to receive individualized arts education and creative mentorship during their medical experiences.

From the radiant student artwork to the energy of the guests in attendance, Blue Flower Duet reminded everyone that art has the power to connect, uplift, and transform. Each brushstroke, lyric, and sculpture reflected the courage and imagination of Snow City Arts students and the community that supports them.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us in celebrating our young artists and their extraordinary
achievements. Your support makes it possible for creativity to flourish in every hospital room we reach!
