On October 13, 2023, Snow City Arts hosted hundreds of guests from Chicago’s philanthropic, medical, corporate, and artistic communities at Gallery Night 2023: Past Looking Future!

Reflecting on 25 years of inspiring young artists in hospitals, Snow City Arts celebrated our journey filled with workshops, student creations, and cherished memories at Venue West. For a quarter of a century, we’ve transformed clinical spaces into vibrant artist studios, empowering young voices and filling hallways with student music. As we stand on the threshold between the past and an evolving future, guests stepped into our world, explored our student artwork, and invited active participation in the stories left behind by taking a zine, listening to a track, and diving into the details of each artwork.

Former Snow City Art’s student Julia spoke, as well as former Teaching Artist, Eric Elshtain, read former student, Malik’s, remarks aloud. The Snow City Arts band entertained the crowd with student-composed pieces and even had a former Snow City Arts student and Teaching Artist as members!

Guests also heard from board members and last year’s Kate Neisser award-winner, Shira Miller, who welcomed this year’s honoree, Snow City Arts Executive Director, Carrie Spitler. We are so grateful for her advocacy and leadership.

Through the generosity of our sponsors, ticketed attendees, auction donors and bidders, art buyers, donors, and pro-bono partners, Snow City raised a remarkable $149,571 to continue fueling SCA’s programming and granting the transformative gift of arts education to hundreds of students annually across four Chicagoland hospitals.

Thank you all for your incredible support! We are thrilled to highlight student voices and works in pursuit of our mission to inspire and educate children and youth in hospitals through the arts.
