Snow City Arts brings arts education programming to children and youth in four Chicagoland hospitals. We are proud to have long-standing partnerships with the following medical centers:
RUSH University Children’s Hospital
Snow City Arts operates at RUSH University Children’s Hospital through the generous support of the RUSH University Medical Center. Our programming is fully integrated into the pediatric unit with the support of Child Life Services. These caring professionals know the who, where, when, and why of each patient’s arrival, and they actively work with Snow City Arts to make effective connections between teaching artists and young patients. Thanks to the guidance and expertise of Child Life Services, Snow City Arts is able to have a stronger impact on the children we serve. Learn more about the work we do with RUSH.
Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago
Through the generous support of the Children’s Memorial Foundation, Snow City Arts is pleased to partner with Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Illinois’ largest freestanding hospital exclusively for children. Working side-by-side with Child Life Specialists and the Department of Family Services, we offer innovative, arts-based educational programs to young people in an advanced care setting. Children’s Hospital University of Illinois
While making rounds at Rush University Medical Center, Mary Lou Schmidt, MD, Chief of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Children’s Hospital University of Illinois, observed Snow City Arts’ teaching artists working with patients. Passionate in her desire for the children at Children’s Hospital University of Illinois to have the same opportunity, she obtained the initial support necessary to start a Snow City Arts program at Children’s Hospital University of Illinois, thanks to funds raised by UIC medical students and a generous donation from the Friends of UIC Pediatrics. In 2016, Snow City Arts expanded its programming to the Comprehensive Assessment and Treatment Unit. Learn more about the work we do with Children’s Hospital University of Illinois.
